The Hazel Woods Outdoor Education Center was purchased by the Hazel Park District in 1967. It is located 40 miles north of Hazel Park, off I-75. It contains a four-acre lake, 78 acres of woodlands, an orchard, marshlands, and fields, providing plenty of opportunity for educational, as well as recreational, activities.
There is a lodge for meetings, complete with a stone fireplace, kitchen, and bathrooms with shower facilities. In addition, there are two residence cabins that will sleep up to 20 persons each. An outside fire pit with surrounding seating creates an excellent place for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. There is a restored cabin that can be used for a variety of activities and caretaker on site who is available, should you require assistance.
Hazel Woods is located closed to other resources such as Groveland County Park, with extensive picnic and swimming areas, the Renaissance Festival, and Mt. Holly.
