Accessing a Server

Please use the following steps to access your file server folder:

(Mac OS 8.x-9.x Users Only)

            1.  Single-click the apple in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
            2.  Single-click Chooser.
            3.  Single-click Appleshare in the upper left-hand window.
            4.  Single-click Server IP Address.
            5.  Type STAFF.
            6.  Single-click Connect.
            7.  Type your username and password in the blanks.  (the default password is                                 always the first eight characters of your username.  Example, Ryan Stefanski =   
                 rstefans)
            8.  Single-click the Connect button.
            9.  Single-click CHALLENGER.STAFF.
            10.  Single-click OK.
            11.  The file server icon will appear on the desktop; double-click this icon.
            12.  Double-click USERFILES.
            13.  Double-click STAFF.
            14.  Double-click (YOUR USER NAME).
            15.  You will backup your files to the (YOUR USER NAME) folder.

Help Desk

The Hazel Park Schools Help Desk is the means for staff members to receive technology services, orders, and repairs.  All services, orders, and repairs require the staff member to fill out or request a work order. Work orders allow the technology department to keep all of the requests streamlined in an organized and efficient manner.

To contact the Help Desk, use any of the following three methods:

  • Call extension 5555 (formerly 418) to phone in a request.
  • E-Mail helpdesk@hazelpark.k12.mi.us and leave a detailed description of your request.
  • Fill out and send a hard copy (paper) work order and send it via interschool mail to the Help Desk at the Central Office.  Download a hard copy work order PDF by clicking here.

* Please note that in order to complete your new purchase request, you MUST use the hard copy method, with an account code and signature from your building administrator.

Sesame Workshop
Game Goo: Learning That Sticks offers K-2 grade students a place to play games that reinforce the early literacy skills they are learning in class. Because GameGoois standards-based, it represents an important first in online educational games.
Kinderstart: Learning Activities and Crafts - a great set of links to online learning activities and crafts intended for the younger primary grades but also including many items of interest for all ages.
Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project includes many lesson plans and teaching ideas for incorporating the use of technology, including the internet into early childhood education (PK-3). Contains links to pages for a listing of websites appropriate for young children.
PreSchool by Stormie includes Monthly Curriculums with Activities, Teacher Preparations, etc.
Sunnie Bunniezz is an interactive early elementary site that includes poetry, storytelling, puppetry, clowning, holiday, puzzles, activities, and more.

SOFTWARE PROGRAMS
Free alternative word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software – similar to Microsoft Office. 
Free web-based diagram editor. Create and share flowcharts, network diagrams, floorplans, user interface designs and other drawings online. 
Bubbl.us is a simple and free web application that lets you brainstorm online. 
vozMe is web tool that turns text into an mp3 file that you can listen to immediately online or download onto your hard drive to listen to later.  
Zamzar supports conversion between a wide variety of different file formats. Support for new formats all the time. 
Voice Thread allows users to add audio and/or text commentary to an image. As in this thumbnail, one could imagine every person in this photo potentially. 
Blabberize is a new service that allows you to create your own talking picture, basically a moving mouth on a still image.
